BGC #35 - The Sky is the Limit

I have some news to share. It’s like almost three weeks old, but since I haven’t shared it here yet, it’s still new, I hope. :P

I have been selected to be a part of the design team of a challenge blog called ‘Beyond Grey Challenges’!!  So I  get to make pretty cards and other projects for their challenges. Yaaaay!! So here I am to share what  I created for one of the challenges, Challenge #35 – The Sky is the Limit! (This challenge is open from July 16 - July 31, 2013.)

The rules for this challenge were - Use at least one element in your card seen in the sky (So you can use the sky background, clouds, an airplane, a rocket,etc... actually the sky is the limit) and here's what I came up with :)

I used a lot of elements from the sky.. like..
The sun and clouds..

Birds...

Kites...

That all added up to say..

And here's what the complete card looks like.. :)

What I did was, I adhered a piece of Patterned paper to the base of the card. I took another layer of CS a quarter inch shorter than the card base and cut out a circle using my Cuttlebug and a Circle Die. Then, I used a cloud stencil that I had made earlier and distressed the layer with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to create the sky. I mounted this layer on foam squares and adhered it on the card base.

For the sun, I punched out a circle using the 0.75" Circle Punch from EK Success on a left-over piece of Patterned Paper and the clouds are cut out using the Puffy Clouds Memory Box Die and then outlined with Stickles glitter.

For the kites, I have once again used scrap pieces of Patterned Paper. I cut them into 1" sqaure pieces and then cut those pieces diagonally. I mix-matched papers and then adhered them onto a piece of 1" square CS and added a little Stickles Glitter on the joints and twine on the ends.

The birds have been stamped and cut out using the Bannerific Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn. I coloured them using my Faber Castell colour pencils and used my Koi Waterbrushes over them and again, added Stickles all over it! :D

Lastly, I stamped the sentiments from the kites2fly Stamp Set by The Stamps of Life. The sun, the colouds, the kites and the birds are all on foam squares to add a little dimension to the card. And done! :D

I hope you guys liked it! :)
