Mini Album with Hinge Binding #1 | Birthday Themed

Hello, hello, hello!

After a long, long, time, I am back with a new project that is not a part of a blog hop or a DT project :P Not that didn't enjoy any of those, it's just that posting your own projects after so long feels great. :) :)

So today, I have for you, my first Mini Album with hinge binding. Yeah, baby! I did the binding too. I know a lot of you crafters out there have already done this before, but it was my first so I was super impressed with how amazing the technique was and how fabulous the result.

It also needs mention that I made this way back in June 2014. But since I haven't been taking any custom requests since then, I wasn't actively posting projects. So without further ado, I'll share pictures.

Right at this moment, I am feeling so so sad. This is the last page of the scrapbook and I have waited so long to share it and now that I have done that, I have nothing to look forward to! :( But I am sure there will be more and I will love those pages even more, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel :P So yay! :D

Anyway, let's see this page. This one captures the couple's honeymoon and the pictures - even though there were just two - were so so gorgeous that I had no choice but to use the best papers and the best combination of embellishments. So I picked this grey wooden background (which, honestly, I was planning to use for my personal scrapbook. That is, if I ever get to making one :P) from Crate Paper's Flea Market Collection and I fell in love!

This is the top left corner of the page and I have used Golden Striped Washi Tape 

and Wood Veneer Chevrons.

The little blue cloud is is from Kaisercraft's Hopscotch Collection (as are many other pieces on this page :P)

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new week!

Last week was so much fun!!! There was a wedding in the family and I have no idea how the went past!!! What's more is that I had to ensure that the posts didn't stop, so it took some extreme dedication and discipline on my part to finish them in advance and for the first time SCHEDULE them!! :P :P

Anyway, speaking of weddings, this page is all about the couple's wedding. An Indian wedding attire (especially for the bride) is traditionally in reds, maroons and pinks and this one was no different. So I chose a nice pink PP from Crate Paper's Flea Market Collection with pink hearts and all that bokeh effect with the hearts in the background. With the perfect paper in hand, I picked out all the matching embellishments and was ready to go! Let's start with peeks, shall we?

This is the top right corner of the page and aside from the washi tape, I've used two die-cut pieces

from none other than Kaisercraft's Hopscotch collection.

I love the title of the page. Even more so because it didn't come from me. The couple wanted to call their courtship as Arranged Dating and I thought it was pretty cool and I went along with it.

Let me start with peeks from various corners and angels of this page before showing the whole thing to you.

The background paper is from Crate Paper's Flea Market collection. 

The blue chevron PP is from My Mind's Eye's Citron Paper Pad from the Indie Chic collection.

I have used the Spellbinders Edgeabilitles Scallop Die and Distressed it with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

I have used the following thickers/chipboard stickers for the page title:

a) ARRANGED - Glitter Foam Thickers, Sunny Banana

b) DATING - Campy Trails Wood Stickers - Forest Chestnut by American Crafts

All the pages in this scrapbook (so far, there are only five, including the cover. I am hoping I will get the opportunity to add more later) have a story to tell. 

Page #1 - Cover

Now that I've explained the story behind the page title, let me reveal (again) that I was making this was around the time I had purchased a load of new craft supplies and Crate Paper's Flea Market collection was nothing like I'd seen before. To add to my delight and absolute craftasgmic pleasure, the die cuts from Kaisercraft's Hopscotch Collection co-ordinated so well with the papers that I am tempted to call this scrapbook the Flea Market Hopscotch Scrapbook. You know what, maybe I will! It's my creation, I get to call it whatever I want!!

And put those two together with some gorgeous washi tapes and wood veneers and we have ourselves a couple of fascinating pages! Here's one for sure.. Alright, I'll try and be humbler from this point forward.. :P

For this page, I used a teal coloured wood-grain background.

To the top of the page, I cut out a strip from on of the 12 x 12 sheets from DCWV's My Sunshine Paper Pad,

adhered it with only a little bit of glue and then and ran my Sew Easy tool over it.

So the upper section is actually stitched together by hand and will hold up even if the glue doesn't - not that it won't. :)

For the page title, I used two things...

a) American Crafts & Pebbles' Walnut Grove Thickers - DOUBLE

b) Studio Calico's Wood Veneer Alphabets - {DELIGHT}

I am so excited to be able to share this new scrapbook with you because with experience, this one has turned out to be waaay better than I expected. Also, I made this when I had just purchased some new craft supplies. Actually, some is an understatement; I had purchased a whole lot, and I used quite a bit of those in this scrapbook.

Third last page, two more to go!! Woo hoo!! I think we'll be done with this scrap book this week and I can start sharing the next one... :D :D

I picked a pink colour Mixed Media Mambi page for this layout because it matched with the pictures and even though the page was already busy I couldn't not embellish. I used one of my favourite fussy-cut embellishments - butterflies from a 6" x 6" sheet from Jillibean Soup's Blosson Paper Pad and Flowers from one of the 12" x 12" sheets from Echo Park's Sweet Girl collection. Take a look.. :)

The page I am sharing today was one of the easiest and one of the hardest. Easy because the page, by itself, already has so much going on that it didn't require any embellishment and looked so gorgeous! Hard because picking embellishments that wouldn't make it too much, was tough. So I decided to start simple.

I picked neutrals and light greenish-blue shades of scrap PP (based on the colours on the page) and cut out circles using a circle punch and some banners. I alternated between the banners and half-circle and made a clothesline sort of embellishment and stuck a Studio Calico Wood Veneer Bird on it. I did this in a couple of places.

Valentine's Day 2014 | Project 3 - (My First) Easel Card

Hello everyone!!!

Today I am sharing the third project for this year's Valentine's Day and I am really excited about it because I have tried something new. I tried an Easel Card!! Hurray for me!! :D 

The card measures 6"x 6" and I've used a whole lot of red on this card (I had refrained from using red on the other two cards - Card 1 | Card 2) 

I've used patterned paper from Crate Paper's DIY Shop paper pad and on the top, I used white Fabric Tape.

Valentine's Day 2014 | Project 2 - Love-ly Card

Hello all!

Today I am sharing the second card I made for Valentine's Day 2014. This card request was through a referral through another crafter. Our very own Pooja Khupse (of the BGC fame) recommended me for one of her husband's colleagues who wanted to send a Valentine's Day card to his wife in India. It was extremely nice of her to recommend me and I was really happy to make this for their friend's wife!

After he saw a couple of pictures of my work, he wanted a tweaked version of this kind-of-vintage anniversary card that I had made. I got pretty specific instructions regarding the tweaks I had to make so it didn't involve too much thinking on my part. Also, as this was for a lady, I could go heavy on pinks and reds!! :D :D

So, before I show you the original card that I tweaked, here are a few peeks of certain elements on the card. :)

Valentine's Day 2014 | Project 1 - Accordion Card

Hello people!

I am back after a really long time. It's two months late, but I am now sharing the projects that I made for Valentines' Day. Sadly, I didn't make any for my husband. :(

Anyway, this one is an accordion card and was requested by one of my friends from school for her husband, and in a rare occasion today, I am going to type less and get straight to the pictures. Lesser than normal, I meant. :P

When I was making this, I was still in love with the Quilled Creations Rose Die and I thought I'd use them here. :)

Hello Everyone!!

After being in hiatus for a few days with all the holidays and festivities going on, I took a craft & blog break. But I am here now and today I am going to share with you a page from the 5th Anniversary Scrapbook that I had promised. It is one of the 15 Pages that I made. So far, I've only shared the cover page.

{I originally wrote this post on the Beyond Grey Challenges Blog as a part of the "What's Up Crafty?" Segment. So basically, this is just a copy-paste with a little bit of editing to suit this blog :)}

This page was made to record the couple's move to Pune from Mumbai. If you know me and my posting style, you would know that I don't show the project just like that. I generally give sneak peeks of the project from different angles because I like to build the suspense :P and then when I have just about exhausted every possible angle, I show the final picture. I hope you have the patience... :P

Anyway, when I was planning the LO, I first decided what I was going to use as the Base Sheet. I selected one of the Pre-Printed Sheets from the My Sunshine 12x12 Paper Stack by Die Cuts With A View and that made the layout way easier than a blank page would have.

Until I made this scrapbook, I realised I had never really made anything close to a scrapbook. Yes, I made one for a colleague's farewell; yes I made one for my teacher's 9th Wedding Anniversary and yes, I've made 3 pages of my own Pre-Wedding (but still incomplete) Scrapbook; but I now realise that they were something else.. And here's why..

With the Farewell Scrapbook, the design was required to be minimalistic with more focus on the content and images. Also, I had close to a week to do those 16 pages, so I decided not to make it like a Scrapbook-Scrapbook, but more of a memory book. And what I ultimately made, worked for that.

With the 9th Anniversary Scrapbook, I was working blind, sort of. Since I was making it for my teacher, she was hesitant to share photos and the content for the pages because they were too personal and I kind of understand that. But that made things very difficult for me because I only knew how many pictures I needed to leave space for. So, I put photo cards and wrote down what size the photo should be, but I was clueless as to what the colours on the photo were (which would help me decide the colour scheme and choose my embellishments) or how much or how little she wanted to write on the pages, which left me no choice but to guess how much space to leave for journaling. It was tough, but what I made was passable. In short, still not a real scrapbook.

Happy Anniversary (Sort of) Vintage Card..

I wanted to make an Anniversary Card for my friend's parents' 25th Anniversary, but I was short on time. So I decided to make something quick, but still something that stood out. So I decided to go kind of Vintage. Actually, that was brought on when I saw the papers in the Lost & Found Two 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye I decided to go Vintage. Now I know this card is not 'exactly' vintage, but this is the closest I've got so far. :P

I'll give you sneak peeks before I share the picture of the card. ;)

First Accordion Card

It all started when I received a call from someone who wanted to gift something special to her fiance on their engagement that was about to take place in a few days. I asked her if she already had something in her mind that she wanted me to do on the card. When she said no, I asked her if she liked something that I had already made. It was then that she told me that she wanted me to do something different and that she wanted to add a few pictures on the card too.

After giving it a bit of a thought, I realised that a simple card wouldn't be able to accommodate messages as well as multiple pictures. So I suggested an Accordion Card.

I had never made one before, so this was a challenge for me as well. But I had seen one or two Accordion cards before and I kind of knew how it should turn out, so at least I knew how to start.

I decided to make a standard size card (4.25"x5.5") The accordion flaps on the inside measured 3"x4".

Once I had those ready, it was just a matter of printing the content and the pictures out and embellishing.

Printing is always difficult and the most time consuming thing when you're making a card for the first time as you have to create a template with the right size, the right margins and of course, test it on plain paper before you can print it directly on cardstock. This obviously saves time when you decide to make a similar card again, but as I said earlier, the first time is always hard. Although the Accordion flaps were 3"x4", I made the text and photo panels 2"x3" so that there would be space left to show the Patterned paper in the background, as well as add a few embellishments.

As soon as I was done making the templates and writing all the measurements down (in inches & centimeters) for future reference, I decided to print the message out.
