Hellloooo folks!!

I am back with another Throwback Thursday post! Yes, I have new stuff to share, but I am working on a larger project not related to crafting and that's the reason I am letting the new ones hibernate for now. :)

So let me go back to an old one. I made this in 2012 for Lulupu's Shabby Chic Shaped Cards Challenge and when I made this, I had never ever tried shabby chic before. So it was a challenge.

I made a card in the shape of a butterfly.. Let's start with the peeks! :)

Hello everyone!

I am sharing another box card today and I am so, so proud of this one. It was requested by a guy for his fiancée's birthday and he wanted us to go all out and make the best one possible. He also wanted her name to appear somewhere on the outside of the box. So Moumita and I thought, this was the perfect opportunity to do some lettering with 3mm quilling strips! And here's what we came up with.

We picked two colours from the pictures - dark pink/red and green - and started with that as a base to pick patterned papers, and here's what we had.

The pink mixed media sheet is from DCWV's Mixed Media Mambi Collection.

The green printed sheet is from one of the 12x12 sheets that Karuna destashed. 

This one one in particular was Fancy Pants Designs, I think.

The solid CSs used for layering (both pink & green) are from DCWV's Scrapbook in a Stack 8x8 pad.

So let's see what we did here.

One side of the box said 'Happy.' 

We did that with red quilling strips and added a few butterflies on the side.

So this box card was requested by Moumita's cousin and he wanted us to go all out with the Quilling an we did. This was a double box card - a box within a box card - so that meant double the fun!! :D :D As it was for Moumita's cousin, I thought it would be good practice for her to make the box on her own. So I haven't done a thing in this, except selection of the PPs, the design and size of the flowers, the colours of the Quilling strips etc. In short, I designed, she created. I didn't lift a finger and I loved it!! :D :D

Let's talk about the outer box first. The papers used for this were from DCWV's Mixed Media Mambi Collection - Sides and Lid. We did green on two sides and orange on the other two. The design had one large Royal Flower and two smaller Malaysian flowers with a bit of leaves on the sides. This design was a slight modification of the design used on the lid of an older box card (image below.)

We tried something new here... We did a black outline on everything Quilled...

Quilled Birthday Card for Mom

I am really really embarrassed to admit when I made this card. It was September last year. I don't know how I forgot about it - like I forgot about countless other projects that I made - but I did. And thanks to this vow that didn't allow me to share any pictures till I edited all of them, I unearthed all of my long forgotten projects and I am ready to share them, even if it means it a (almost) a whole year later.

Anyway, this one was for one of my school friend's mom. He only told me the colours - blue and maroon - and that it had to be quilled. Moumita had just joined and her first assignment was to learn and make Royal flowers and husked petal-ed flowers. And she did amazingly well.

We also tried to make quilled flourishes with multiple strips in various colours and even though it didn't turn out to be quite the way we expected, we liked it! :)

Here are glimpses of the card. :)

Instead of the usual solid coil centres, we decided to add medium sized pearls.

We stamped the sentiment in the centre of the card and adhered one cluster of flowers to the top left (seen below) and the other to the bottom right.

This may seem odd but it has kind of become the norm for me. I post ALL my projects late and this one, in particular, has been neglected for far too long. I finished and couriered this scrapbook way back in October first week, last year. I shared two of the pages (out of nine) and then newer projects grabbed my attention.

But a week or so ago, I decided I had to take a stand and I vowed to myself that till I am done editing and watermark-ing ALL my older projects, I wouldn't share a single thing. Now that it's all finally done, I can breathe, so to speak. :)

I may have mentioned this before, but I'll say it again. For this scrapbook, all pages barring one, are from DCWV's Mixed Media Mambi Collection.

I used a black page for this and added some bright and colourful elements for contrast and loved the effect.

I stamped flowers and leaves in Distress Inks - Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Barn Door and Peeled Paint - and Fussy Cut them. For the flowers, I have layered three of them to add dimension and added a little pearl in the centre and some stickles on the sides.

Valentine's Day 2014 | Project 2 - Love-ly Card

Hello all!

Today I am sharing the second card I made for Valentine's Day 2014. This card request was through a referral through another crafter. Our very own Pooja Khupse (of the BGC fame) recommended me for one of her husband's colleagues who wanted to send a Valentine's Day card to his wife in India. It was extremely nice of her to recommend me and I was really happy to make this for their friend's wife!

After he saw a couple of pictures of my work, he wanted a tweaked version of this kind-of-vintage anniversary card that I had made. I got pretty specific instructions regarding the tweaks I had to make so it didn't involve too much thinking on my part. Also, as this was for a lady, I could go heavy on pinks and reds!! :D :D

So, before I show you the original card that I tweaked, here are a few peeks of certain elements on the card. :)

 Last time, I shared a page that used this double sided 12x12 sheet from Echo Park's Paradise Beach collection. For that page, I had used the beige, sandy side. The page I am sharing today, has a Lay Out on the blue, printed side.

As this page has a busy pattern already, I decided to use very few embellishments and even then, they had to be plain so as to not clash with the print on the Base Sheet.

Now this page had two pictures from the couple's outing to a Disco. I really enjoyed the creative freedom Deval gave me. Working with minimum restrictions allowed me to experiment so many new things, and I doubt the pages would have been half as good as they are now, had there been a list of Dos and Don'ts. 

She allowed me to title their pages too.. :) And this one was easy. I called this page 'Disco Night.' 

I used a plain blue sheet from the same collection kit as the base sheet and added White American Craft Journaling Thickers and tied a bit of blue twine to the left of the title. 

Clean & Simple Thank You Card

One of my closest school friend's mother, just went through a spinal surgery, and he and his sister wanted a Thank You card for their doctor. So I whipped one up pretty quick as I was short on time.

The doctor was a man, so I had to stay away from flowers, pinks, leaves, butterflies - basically, everything girly. So I decided to start with picking up a subtle Patterned Paper and decided to see where it went from there.

I found this really nice Lattice Print PP in the Follow Your Heart Be Amazing Paper Pad from My Mind's Eye and I loved the baby blue on it. And the multicoloured diagonal stripes on the other side of the paper were perfect to add some contrast. That's one good thing about double sided papers - they are already colour-coordinated and you don't have to rack your brains for good colour combos!! :)

I was able to do the card in only ONE 6x6 sheet! And I was amazed. Zero PP wastage made me really happy. :)

Happy Anniversary (Sort of) Vintage Card..

I wanted to make an Anniversary Card for my friend's parents' 25th Anniversary, but I was short on time. So I decided to make something quick, but still something that stood out. So I decided to go kind of Vintage. Actually, that was brought on when I saw the papers in the Lost & Found Two 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye I decided to go Vintage. Now I know this card is not 'exactly' vintage, but this is the closest I've got so far. :P

Mother's Day Pocket Card with Tilda

I was really excited about Mother's Day and was really looking forward to making cards for the occasion; especially since I had been able to lay my hands on two of the Magnolia Stamps on the Lulupu Store. It was almost as if I was looking for an opportunity to use them; itching to use them, actually. So when my friend Kamya said that she wanted me to make a card for her mother, I immediately stamped Tilda Loves Flowers & Tilda with Daisy on paper and showed them both to her while we were chatting on Skype.

She loved them both, but she liked Tilda Loves Flowers more. So I decided to go with that. Excited that I was, I started to colour her up immediately, just to get an idea of what the final coloured image would look like. Here are the two options I tried. But ultimately, I picked some colours from the first combination and some, from the second. And it turned out to be beautiful.
